Business Auto Policy

A Business Auto Policy is an insurance policy that insures or covers a company's use of trucks, cars, vans along with other vehicles during the course of performing company business. Insurance coverage can include vehicles owned or leased by the company, hired or rented by the company, or employee-owned vehicles intended for business purposes.

Our recommendation: a business should purchase a BAP even though they don’t own vehicle, because in the event a company employee uses a personal vehicle for business purpose, and there is a serious accident, the employee might not have sufficient personal liability insurance to adequately safeguard the company.

There are three basic parts of every commercial auto policy:

  1. Physical damage insurance − includes collision and comprehensive coverage
  2. Liability insurance − includes bodily injury, property damage, uninsured motorist and underinsured motorist
  3. Other coverage − includes medical payments, towing and labor, rental reimbursement and auto loan or lease gap coverage.
